Yenson Guitars: multiscale OM
Sitka spruce / Honduras rosewood / koa binding
I built this multiscale OM for open C & D tunings, with a scale ranging between 26” on the bass side & 25.25” on the treble. This allows the player to maintain a bit more string tension when tuning lower, like a mini-baritone. Ergonomically it feels great; I hardly notice the difference between this one and my normal 25” OM.
The nut width is a hair wider as well, at 1-13/16”. I built #5 — a standard OM — at the same time, using virtually identical wood.
