Repair & Restoration

Our musical instruments are old friends and beloved family members, changing and maturing with experience and age. Like us, they have body parts — head, neck, shoulders, hips, waist, guts. And sometimes these body parts need a routine tune-up, or even drastic intervention from time to time. From basic setups and fretwork to major structural repairs and vintage restorations, I carefully treat each instrument with the attention it deserves.

It’s difficult to estimate the scope of a repair without seeing the instrument in person. Once your instrument is on the workbench, I do my best to provide a ballpark estimate on a case-by-case basis—typically expressed in a range of hours required (for example, “This crack repair will take between two and four hours”).

My current shop rate is $90/hour.

Services include:

  • Setups and action adjustment

  • Fretwork (leveling, dressing, refrets)

  • Crack repair and cleating

  • Bridge repairs and reglues

  • Neck resets and joint work

  • Nut and saddle fabrication

  • Pickup installation (acoustic)

  • General diagnostics and troubleshooting

If you’re unsure what your instrument needs, I’m happy to take a look and offer an honest & professional assessment.
